Choctaw Nation July 5th 1829
Respected Friend
Uncle Tappenahoomah has fully made up his mind to emegrate to the
west of Mississippi. He suppose one hundred souls will accompany him from
this part of the Nation. He expects to be paid for all things he may leave
behind. For his improvements stocks of all Description that he cannot take
with him And also that Government will furnish him and those who may
accompany him with every thing necessary to move. Should you be instructed
to furnish them with every thing necessary to move. He would like to start by
the 1st of October. Should these people go I should like to go as an Interpreter;
And I wish you to write to the Secretary of war for the appointment, for me.
It is the wish of Tappenahoomah that John Bond should go as their leader[.]
